Varvaro's week came with some good news, as he earned one of the team's September call-ups. Unfortunately, his on-the-field performance this past week didn't quite match-up. He picked-up the loss in both of his late-inning appearances, one with Gwinnett and one with the big league club in Atlanta. The next three weeks will serve as his audition in his battle to make it on to the team's playoff roster.
This Week (MiLB): 1 G (0-1), I IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB
This Week (MLB): 1 G (0-1), 1 IP, 1 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB
Season (MiLB): 38 G (2-8), 1 SV, 59 IP, 2.90 ERA, 69 K, 35 BB
Season (MLB): 8 G (0-1), 10 IP, 3.60 ERA, 16 K, 7 BB
Chris Cody, LHP (Double A - Mississippi)
Cody finished his last start of the season with his first complete game of the year. He continued his low strikeout and low walk numbers, notching just two K and one BB in a full nine innings.
This Week: 1 G (1-0), 9 IP, 3 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 1 BB
This Season: 6 G (3-1), 39 IP, 3.46 ERA, 20 K, 8 BB
Dan Jurik, RHP (Low A - Rome)
Jurik indeed remained in the rotation, finishing out the season with one start this past week. He again displayed difficulty in that role, not making it through the fifth inning. While starting may not be where he's most effective, it at least made sense for Rome to put him to the test for the last few weeks of the season to be sure.
This Week: 1 G (0-0), 4.1 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 8 H, 1 HR, 4 K, 3 BB
This Season (Danville, Rome & Lynchburg): 30 G (2-3), 2 SV, 78 IP, 3.69 ERA, 62 K, 28 BB
Cory Brownsten, C (Low A - Rome)
Brownsten was on the DL since July 16th with a broken thumb.
This Week: DL
Season (Rome and Lynchburg): 13 G, .163/.234/.209, 0 HR, 0 RBI
Dave Filak, RHP (Rookie - Danville)
Despite Danville making the playoffs, Filak did not earn the start in any of the team's three games against Johnson City.
This Week: DNP
Season (Danville and Rome): 24 G (3-11), 104 IP, 6.14 ERA, 79 K, 52 BB

Quick question(s). You watched Teheran's performance yesterday, was he throwing a lot of breaking pitches? He's having a pretty disappointing year and I keep hearing about how he's just focusing on his off-speed stuff and that I shouldn't worry about the results, yet I see no evidence of this.
I've contacted you on Twitter a few times and never got a reply, which is confusing considering the low traffic your blog receives.
